Hands down, the best part of being a wedding photographer is connecting with wonderful couples and getting to document their memories. But the second best part is participating in incredible, creative, jaw-dropping editorial shoots like this one at the Glen Manor House in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. I was so excited to explore this venue and photograph the stunning scenes that these brilliant vendors created!

On the Glen Manor House website, they describe the venue as “Grand, yet Intimate.” This is shockingly accurate. The French chateau-inspired home seems so large from the outside—and it is!—but once you’re inside, it feels homey and comfortable. The shoot utilized the getting ready room upstairs, one of the ballrooms downstairs, the covered patio, as well as the beautiful gardens and grounds overlooking the Sakonnet River.
Every inch of this venue is beautiful, but I was especially drawn to the covered patio with the elegant arches and the ceremony location overlooking the water. There were so many graceful details, taking photos felt like the world’s most beautiful scavenger hunt. There was even a rented antique car that paired perfectly with the historic architecture! The Glen Manor House reminds me of the venue I got married in, the Eolia Mansion at Harkness Park! Though they are many miles away from each other, these venues share a classic, historic, and quintessentially New England atmosphere.

This editorial was inspired by Claude Monet’s work, using soft blues, greens, and peachy pinks to reflect his impressionist paintings. Each room focused on a different aspect of a wedding, from getting ready to a stunning reception tablescape! Every detail, no matter how minute, was precise and intentional. As I wandered through the Glen Manor House, camera at the ready, I was in awe of the sheer time, effort, and attention to detail required to create such a masterpiece. Every element of the architecture worked in tandem with the overall design. It felt effortless despite the hours that went into it.
I was impressed with every vendor, but the florals by Botanica Wedding Floral were in a league of their own. Everywhere I looked, I saw lush bouquets and overflowing installations. Florals set the tone of every event. The florals complemented the subtle grandeur of the Glen Manor House, creating a cohesive feeling across all the different rooms.

This was my first time seeing this venue in person, and I sincerely hope it will not be my last! The Glen Manor House would be the perfect venue for a couple who wants something timeless, classic, and romantic. Ideal for weddings with up to 175 guests, you can choose to have your ceremony and reception in any of the beautiful spaces around the property. If you want something awe-inspiring, yet understated, I highly encourage you to check out the Glen Manor House. Having shot there now, I feel confident in my ability to navigate the venue seamlessly. I think I capture the best photos while remaining unobtrusive during your celebration. Explore my wedding photography collections and contact me to start planning your wedding!
