As a Connecticut wedding photographer, I get to travel all over New England, capturing love stories. One such love story unfolded in September, on the picturesque grounds of Quonquont Farm in Whatley, Massachusetts. Meghan and Domenick were high school sweethearts who dreamed of a romantic fall wedding. Meghan’s vision for their wedding started with flowers! She wanted to pull out the softer tones of a fall color palette, opting for pink and peach tones instead of the traditional red and orange. The pastel blooms from Rooted Flowers brought her vision to life perfectly
Meghan and her bridesmaids got ready together the morning of the wedding. This is one of my favorite parts of the wedding day to capture. These moments with your friends and family before you walk down the aisle are so precious! Meghan wore a strapless gown by Eddy K., which had shimmering floral appliqué that perfectly complemented her bouquet. The sweetheart neckline showed off the necklace Meghan’s mother had made from Meghan’s grandmother’s diamond! Her bridesmaids wore dresses in a deep dusty rose color, truly embodying the romantic pastels Meghan dreamed of! Domenick wore a navy blue suit and pearl-colored tie, with a boutonniere that matched Meghan’s bouquet. Standing side by side, no one could ignore how absolutely in love they were!
The couple chose to do a first look outside of the dressing suites in Quonquont Farm’s historic home. Meghan told me that this was the most emotional part of the day. Before, they were both nervous. But once they saw each other and were hand in hand, they felt they could be fully present and enjoy their day together! After their first look, we wandered around the gorgeous property, taking portraits of the bride, groom, and their closest friends and family.
Meghan and Domenick chose to host their ceremony in the beautiful timber frame barn. This is one of many ceremony locations available at Quonquont Farm, but it’s one of the best due to the complete coverage and secluded atmosphere! Meghan entered the ceremony with both her parents, and the joy on their faces was infectious. The couple stood beneath a birch arbor decorated with flowers as they said their vows and committed their lives to one another! Their ceremony was beautiful, emotional, and full of deep love. It was an honor to capture it and preserve their memories from this special day.
After their ceremony, Meghan and Domenick’s guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the patio before entering the jaw-dropping barn! While one may not think of a barn as particularly elegant, Quonquont Farm has built a bright and airy reception space from a historic barn. It is now full of chandeliers and string lights, creating the perfect blend of rustic elegance. The reception was full of laughter, dancing, and (my personal favorite) large cut-outs of Meghan and Domenick’s cats that were featured on the dance floor all night long!
Meghan and Domenick’s wedding was so wonderful. Between the landscapes at Quonquont farm, the love between the bride and groom, and the genuine smiles on the faces of their guests, it was a joy and an honor to photograph. When I asked the couple why they chose to work with me, they told me that I made them feel comfortable and captured the real, candid moments that they wanted to remember.
